Anne Deane is the executive director of the World Water Center. Her entrepreneurial vision and passion for safe water brings an innovative perspective to safe water projects, implementation and public education. Anne’s interest in safe water started in her sophomore year at Duke University when she read Tracey Kidder’s “Mountains Beyond Mountains.” While at Duke, she completed a research paper on point-of-use water technology, the premise of which touched on the necessity to approach safe water from a socio-cultural perspective.

Anne shares a similar vision with the World Water Center: The importance of delivering safe water to all areas in the world. Her international travels to rural communities have exposed her to the complexity of issues that impact the water crisis. For her, the connection between contaminated drinking water and quality of life is what motivates Anne to work towards increasing people’s access to safe water.
